We have returned from the countryside of beautiful Mongolia. We are now in the capital, Ulaanbatar for a couple of days before heading back to China; Shanghai to be precise. We have a lot of thoughts, pictures and videos to share. In the meantime we have a short teaser of our top five:
5. Eating and drinking traditional Mongolian food and drink (buuz, hooshur, bo, milk tea, fermented mare's milk, etc.). For Allyson this was a sweet homecoming of flavors. For Pearce it was a shock and awe campaign.
4. Shot a traditional bow and arrow at the Naadam festival. Pearce had exaggerated his genetic predisposition to archery skills from his mother (who was an archer). Not pictured: the arrow landed at his feet.
3. Sleeping on the floor in a countryside ger (circular felt tent) with 12 people and waking to the sound of sheep and goats. Luckily, Pearce did not die from his well-known allergy to most animals.
2. Hiking to the top of a beautiful mountain ridge overlooking Turgen Soum.
1. Reuniting with our Mongolian family after 7 years.
I love it! Al, I hope it was awesome to be back - I'm interested to learn what might have changed since you were there. And also to learn more about Pearce's experience!
